MAI-YIN JOHNSTON
Co-President
Mai-Yin is a third year Environmental Science major with minors in Political Science and Environmental Studies, and one of this year’s Co-Presidents! This is her third year as part of UTEA and cannot wait for everything the team has in store this year. Mai-Yin enjoys all kinds of music, cooking, and discovering new parts of Toronto (recommendations welcome )!
MELODY LI
Co-External Outreach Director
Melody is excited to be returning this year as one of the Co-External Outreach Directors. She is a 4th year music education major (playing classical flute) and mathematics minor. Although her program of study is music, she has a passion for learning about all sorts of things. She hopes to continue growing alongside her community as she engages with her work in UTEA. In her free time, she loves hanging out with her pet rabbit, playing video games, and going on walks by the lake.
EMMA BELHADFA
Co-Internal Advocacy Director
Emma is in Engineering Science, majoring in Aerospace with a minor in Fine Art History. She is currently on her PEY, working at an aerospace company in robotics and mission operations. She's passionate about creating a space for students to discuss and advocate for sustainability and hopes to help UTEA find innovative ways to address student needs and interests as an Internal Advocacy co-director this year
SABRINA WONG
External Advocacy Director
Sabrina is so excited to be this year’s External Advocacy Director. She is in her third year of university as an Earth & Environmental Systems and Economics double major. She joined UTEA last fall as an Internal Outreach Co-Director and is so glad she did! UTEA is a wonderful place to find friends who are passionate about environmental justice on campus and in the broader community, and she can’t wait for all that the team has planned for this year. In her free time, she loves to play tennis, hike, walk around the city, and have good food with friends. She’s looking forward to another great year with everyone!
SEGI ODUWOLE
Co-Internal Outreach Director
Meet Segi, a third year student from Nigeria double majoring in Environmental Studies and Environmental Ethics, with a Human Geography minor and a Certificate in Sustainability. She has been an active general member of UTEA since her first year but now has the honour of Co-Directing Internal Outreach. Her hobbies include pottery, poetry, gardening, virtual art, reading and basketball. Segi enjoys the sense of community present in UTEA that goes beyond activism and values intra-personal relationships. She is looking forward to the new session and all the opportunities for connection and growth that it will bring.
CATHY ZUO
Co-Director of Finance
Cathy is entering her third year pursuing a finance and economics specialist and an environmental science major. Her interest in combating environmental and climate issues stems from her passion for all things food, and a healthy environment is key to sustaining delicious, nutritious produce! Her interests include plants, anime, cats, and of course, food!
LINDSAY HORNSBY
Co-Communications and Marketing Director
Lindsay (she/her) is a 3rd year student studying Environmental Biology and Environment & Health. She is excited to be one of the communications and marketing directors this year. Lindsay enjoys going for hikes, run, and drinking matcha. She can’t wait for an amazing year with UTEA!
OLIVIA RODRIGO
Co-President
Olivia is a 4th year student completing a major in environmental science with minors in environmental studies and immunology. She is honoured to be one of UTEAs Co-Presidents again alongside Mai-Yin and has been part of UTEA since first year. Olivia is looking forward to having mostly in-person events this year as well as working with anyone interested in climate justice initiatives. She enjoys reading, riding her bike around the city, and is currently learning how to identify trees. Oh, who’s the cat? That’s Bruce Lee :)
ISHA DINESH SHARMA
Co-Internal Advocacy Director
Isha is in her third year of an architecture technology specialist with a minor in energy and environmental science. she is so excited to be a part of UTEA as an Internal Advocacy director this year alongside Emma. She joined Utea because she wanted to be more involved with social activism and climate justice within the University of Torontocommunity. She also really enjoys the research-focused and policy-rooted lens we take at UTEA. In her free time she enjoys baking, swimming, reading and painting. She is so eager to work with everyone :D Feel free to contact her anytime with any internal advocacy related projects at UofT.
ELIZABETH CHEN

Elizabeth is a fourth year student at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, pursuing a Psychology specialist and an Environment and Behaviour minor. She will returning as the Internal Outreach Co-Director for UTEA this year. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, journaling, and music. Elizabeth is looking forward to all the amazing events and initiatives that UTEA has planned for this year!

Ashleen is so excited to be one of the co-directors of finance for UTEA this academic year! Having worked with UTEA in the past, she is beyond exhilarated and proud to continue advocating for environmental policies on every level. she is looking forward to another wonderful year with UTEA!

Kaisa is a second-year student, majoring in Ethics, Society and Law, with minors in Environmental Ethics and Finnish Studies. She is passionate about advocating for environmental issues and encouraging everyone to be in nature more! Kaisa is excited to be able to communicate with everyone in UTEA and beyond this year :)

Jyotsna (she/her) is in her second year majoring in Critical Equity Studies and minoring in Diaspora and Transnational Studies and Human Geography. In her spare time she loves to read, go to concerts, and hike. She is looking forward to being apart of UTEA this year and working towards making the campus and city more sustainable!
